We had yet another GREAT day in Rome…last one…maybe…due to Volcano erupting we may be “stuck” at airport. Deeanna’s flight to Amsterdam and from there to US are cancelled and she is sitting in airport. I’m still up at 1:15am trying to find out if my flight from Rome to Sicily is cancelled. I may just take train to Sicily so that I still get to see Sicily.
Here is the latest email I just got from Deeanna who is sitting on a cold floor in the airport: "All flights europe and international cancelled. I can't check your flight they have us coralled into another area now. But I got online and rebooked my flight I will fly delta from here 10:55am to atlanta for a 3.5 hour layover then get into portland 10:55pm friday night :(

It's rough they have us all here laying and sitting on cold floors, I called all hotels no rooms available due to this. There is compensation from the airlines $$ back due to some european law so for sure will be filling out those forms. Now I just need to make it to check in... people are laying on conveyor belts trying to sleep it's crazy!" Guess I will just take the train to be safe.
We visited a few churches along the way today and one had a beautiful carved wooden Dome structure with houses cared all around it. Very detailed as you will see. It also had all the countries written around it and the states of the US too.
We went to Vodaphone store to purchase more internet service for me at 25 euro for 5 hours per day for 30 days. So I’m back up and running for now. Then we stumbled upon the Pantheon by mistake (we were going to look for it later in the day, but did not realize how close it was to where we are staying. The map is very deceiving. It is a large dome building with a hole in the ceiling. It does not close so when it rains it all comes inside the Church. The floor is sloped so that all the rain goes to the edges and into the holes in the floor along the wall. (I need to hunt down pictures from this - for some reason they did not download off camera...may be able to post tomorrow). We then found the famous poet Keat’s tomb which is in the shape of a pyramid. We walked through the graveyard looking at other tombstones. One was of a lady angel with her head down. It ways it was the last statue that her husband did (after she died) and then he died shortly after finishing it. How sad. They were both about 78. Seems that is the average age of death for Italians. Maybe due to all the smoking. They walk out of a building, train station, airport with a cigarette hanging out of their mouths and light up as soon (or just before) they are walking out of the building. Funny that they make most places none smoking when ALL of Italy smokes. LOL

We got our picture taken from a guy dressed up on Roman attire who then held out his hand and showed us 10 euros like he wanted us to pay him for taking our picture...then pretended he didn't speak English. I gave him 1.20 euros and Deeanna gave him 2 euros and we walked off. He didn't ask for money in advance so we didn't feel we owed him anything...but we did give him a little for his time of 1-2 min.
A few more things we saw today...the Borgesse Gardens (spelling?)
And a Castle that's a muesum...

Well, off to bed. Have to find out if I’m on a plane or train to Sicily tomorrow.
Night all…from Rome with love….Kyla
