Border Security & Kyla...the night train drama unfolds...

The Night Train Saga unfolds. Deeanna and I ended up in same train “cabin” but in different rooms, about 4 rooms apart. We got set up, walked down to the food area, and went back to separate rooms because Deeanna wasn’t feeling well so she went to sleep. Her roommates were getting off at a stop at 5:45 in the morning, I think in Milan as were mine.

We were to get a wake up call at 5:30 for them to get off the train. In the middle of the night we hear a knock on the door and think it is our porter Marco waking them up; so no one answers the door and I say thank you. Then there is another knock, louder this time, so I reached out of my bed as I was in the middle bed to open the door  to let him know we heard him and the light is flicked on and a dog comes sniffing into our room and there stands 3 border patrol men and their sniffing cream colored dog. One man, I'll call him the interrigator, starts asking the two ladies in my room questions. I could see he had the passport in his hand from Lorinda, who was from Argentina, but he was talking to her sister, Calinda from CA (they had met up for a vacation together before the sister from Argentina got married in a few weeks). So I wasn't too worrid at this point.  When Lorinda tried to answer a question he told her to be quiet in a gruff voice (and she did) and then returned to questioning the other sister. Then he stopped, looked at me and started questioning me. He wanted to know where I was from. Then where I was traveling from. I told him Paris and he just looked at me and asked where in Paris and half asleep I told him the Eiffel Tower (he didn’t laugh). Then he wanted to know where I was traveling to and if I was traveling alone. So now I’m thinking of that movie where the two girls traveled to a foreign country and were “stolen” away by these guys and sold into the slave industry (as everyone reminded me about before I left telling me to be careful traveling alone). My heart started pounding 100 miles an hour, but I didn’t say a word other than what he asked me. (miracle huh?) he then asked the girls a few more questions looked me straight in the eye for it seemed like eternity and then they (all 3 of them and the dog turned and left. The conductor for our train cabin talked with me later and told me that there were 13 cars and that they choose about 10 individuals a night to get “interrogated”. He said they usually look at last names and if they match and are meeting up from different countries and different nationalities. So I sort of just got caught in the middle. Guess God just wanted me to trust in Him. And so the adventure continues…I’ll write next on our first day in Venice today...what a fun exciting adventure…must get writing. Sorry I’m behind, it's due to no internet last night. Hope you are all doing well. Kyla…signing off.

REMEMBER, you can make a comment or ask a question and I’ll try to answer.
