Goodbye to Venice hello to Florence (Firenzia)

Gondola driver talking on cell phone...
Adventure of the day…we left our apt at 9am for a 10:27 train. We had to go up and over 4 or 5 bridges with stairs only with all our luggage. We were exhausted before we even reached the water taxi. The water taxi took forever as it stopped at every stop along the way. Last time we came in from the other direction and there were no stops. So we did not plan right time wise. We got to the train station, ran to our train and the doors shut just as we were approaching…obviously we missed our train. LOL So we went to information met a nice lady who spoke English and we changed to the train 1 hour later which worked out better because we had not eaten anything. And eating was another fun adventure. We stand at the food counter waiting for him to come to us so we can purchase a sandwich. He doesn’t come. As we look around we notice that people are paying first and then coming to the counter we are at. So we go over and the lady asks what food we want and we don’t know the name of it and then she asks “or what price”. I tell her 3.70 Euros and she rings me up with my bottled water at 1.30 for a total of 5 Euros. My water should have been 1.50 but because they don’t like to hand out change of under 50 cents they drop the price. We are now sitting on the correct train in first class and it’s nice. Because we were traveling first class it didn’t cost us to change our tickets. But if we were traveling 2nd class and missed our train we would have had to purchase a new ticket. The sun is shining as we leave the majestic providence or is it region of Venice. Fields sprawl out in light and dark greens, houses fly by and it could almost be anywhere in the US except for the different shaped houses. The train moves pretty fast and is for the most part, pretty smooth; compared to the night train which rocked back and forth quite a bit. It’s nice to have internet via satellite.
